What should I do if my tariff isn't available in the Loop app?

Rather than collect tariff data ourselves, we rely on a third-party supplier for this data. Tariff data is surprisingly complex with huge numbers of tariffs on the market.
Our supplier does a great job of keeping up to date with the latest tariffs but it's not always perfect, and they don't yet support all types of tariff.
As a result Loop provides limited support for certain tariff types that our supplier can't supply data for. See below for more information:

Standard tariffs (single rate, variable or fixed)

If your tariff isn't available:
  • First, check the list of popular missing tariffs below:

E.On Next Next Pledge Tracker 12m v1 Use Next Pledge Tracker 12m v3 - the rates are up to date in line with Jan 2024 price cap changes.

  • If not listed above you could try using the standard variable tariff from your supplier, or the Loop Price Cap Tariff
  • Or try again in a few days as the tariff data is updated daily.
  • Alternatively send your tariff details (supplier and name) to support@loop.homes and we'll ask our tariff partner to add the missing tariff.

Can I add my own tariff details?

Not yet but this is on our radar! We have a small development team with lots of priorities to juggle!

If you would like Loop to provide support for manual tariff entry, please email support@loop.homes and we'll pass the request to the product team.

EV Tariffs

Loop isn't fully compatible with EV tariffs yet, and our our third-party supplier doesn't provide EV tariffs. There is a partial workaround you can try, assuming your EV tariff has a day rate and a night rate:

  • The Electric Driver tariff from British Gas is available as an Economy 7 tariff.
  • The standing charge and day rate may not match your tariff exactly but it does have a very low night rate like most other EV tariffs (approx 9p/kWh) which will be applied between 0000 and o700.
  • To add this tariff, answer "Yes" to "Do you have an Economy 7 meter" and it should be available within British Gas tariffs
Given the market is moving more towards time-of-use and agile tariffs, this is very much part of our thinking for Loop moving forwards. Find out more about our plans here: Time of use tariffs: Loop's plans

If you would like Loop to fully support EV tariffs, please email support@loop.homes and we'll pass the request to the product team.

Tracker tariffs, Agile tariffs

Tracker or agile tariffs - such as Octopus Tracker, Agile Octopus, E.On Next Flex - with rates that are updated daily in line with changing wholesale prices are not currently supported.

If you would like Loop to provide support for tracker tariffs, or agile tariffs, please email support@loop.homes and we'll pass the request to the product team.

Time of use tariffs

Time of use tariffs with two or more different rates (apart from Economy 7 tariffs) are not currently supported.

For example, Cosy Octopus, the heat pump-specific three rate tariff, or EDF's Eco 2020 tariff.

Given the market is moving more towards time-of-use and agile tariffs, this is very much part of our thinking for Loop moving forwards. Find out more about our plans here: Time of use tariffs: Loop's plans

If you would like Loop to provide support for tracker tariffs, or agile tariffs, please email support@loop.homes and we'll pass the request to the product team.

Time of use Solar/Battery tariffs

Tariffs such as Octopus Flux, which are designed for homes with existing solar installations with / without battery setups, aren't currently compatible with Loop.

If you would like Loop to provide support for Octopus Flux or similar solar/battery tariffs, please email support@loop.homes and we'll pass the request to the product team.

Usage-based tariffs

Tariffs that have different rates based on how much energy is used, such as Utilita's Smart Energy tariff are not currently supported.

If you would like Loop to support usage-based tariffs, please email support@loop.homes and we'll pass the request to the product team.
